Do you love K-Pop and Sokcho? We who love K-pop and Sokcho must also face the fact that attending K-pop concerts and various local festivals in Sokcho generates carbon emissions! So, what are some ways to keep enjoying and loving K-pop and Sokcho while minimizing our carbon footprint? Earlier this year, we researched and presented seven case studies together with young members of the climate action group Big Wave. The guide is intended for those working in the performing arts industry, including artistic directors, producers, directors, production managers, lighting designers and technicians, set designers and builders, costume designers, and other performing arts professionals.

The guidelines for sustainable theatre were created by Renew Culture, which was co-founded by Lisa Burger, former joint CEO of the National Theatre in the UK, and director Paddy Dillon, in collaboration with the consulting firm Buro Happold. Over 30 organizations, including the European Theatre Convention, the National Theatre, and Julie’s Bicycle, came together in support of this initiative. The first version was released in 2021, and the second version was published in June 2024.
